The Aladdin EasyFit Isolator enables an isolation valve to be inserted quickly and safely in a pipe that can have cold or hot water flowing through it under high pressure.
It provides an effective and robust product for all plumbers, maintenance engineers, water companies, housing associations and the DIY market.

Use the EasyFit Isolator as an emergency shut-off for a leaking pipe or when the mains stopcock is seized or inaccessible. Also when you need to isolate a mains water feed to a multi-occupancy building or to maintain a component in a heating system.

The EasyFit Isolator saves time cooling, draining down, refilling and returning to de-aerate. The bigger the system, the bigger the saving. No more freezing kits and the risk that an ice plug will fail.

The EasyFit Isolator is an essential product for all plumbers.

The isolator valve clamps around and installs into 15mm copper or plastic live pressurised pipe (hot or cold) in less than 3 minutes, providing a large bore, permanent stopcock in the system. ‘WRAS Approved Stopcock’.

The Aladdin EasyFit Isolator requires a Phillips screwdriver with an Aladdin EasyFit Isolator Tool Kit and a battery drill or a ratchet to fit.

Installing the cutter in a standard hard 0.7mm wall copper pipe requires 16 Newton-Metres of drill power; 1mm wall hard copper requires 32 Newton-Metres. Most 14.4v and all 18v battery drills with a strong battery and on a high torque setting, or a standard mains powered drill, will achieve 32 Newton-Metres.

Examples of the Aladdin EasyFit Isolator uses

1. As an emergency fitting, where the external stop-valve (ESV) or an internal stop-valve (ISV) is inaccessible or will not work.e.g.One national plumbing maintenance company has many call-outs a week where it cannot currently complete the job on the first call-out because it cannot access the ESV and has to request the local water authority to shut-off the water supply before returning; this can take two weeks. One recent example was that a tarmac path had been laid over the access to the ESV. The great majority of these jobs will now be completed on the first call-out using an Aladdin EasyFit Isolator as an emergency stop valve.

2. As a convenience device in multi-occupancy buildings (e.g. hotels, shops and HMOs – homes of multiple occupancy) where water supply to one area needs to be worked on without inconveniencing other occupants.e.g.A regional plumbing contractor is tendering for a job to refurbish the en-suite bathrooms in a market-town small business hotel. Utilising Aladdin EasyFit Isolators to isolate each bathroom allowed the contractor to plan the work sequentially, so that the hotel can maximise its letting-rooms for the duration of the refurbishment without inconveniencing its guests.

  • Checking the pipe

Pipe surfaces must be smooth and straight.
Ensure pipe is 15mm copper (Hard or Half Hard, 0.7mm or 1mm wall thickness) or plastic (PEX and Polybutylene), has no kinks or bends, and the surface is free of solder or paint runs, or other damage.


  • Rotating Lower Housing onto pipe

Slide the lower housing around the pipe to face forward, rotate until in the required final position for ease of using the isolator.
The Aladdin EasyFit Isolator must not be further rotated or slid up or down after this stage of fitting, as either action could dislodge the seals.


  • Attaching the Upper Housing

Press the upper housing directly onto the lower-housing. To avoid shearing the bolt-heads, if using a drill with variable torque, set at approx half of maximum.


Firstly, using the socket cap driver bit completely install two diagonally opposite
socket cap bolts (Diagram A, 1 and 2), tightening them alternately.

Secondly, install the last two bolts (Diagram B, 3 and 4). Then tighten all the bolts
diagonally in sequence until the housing halves are completely flush on both sides.

Note: The gasket may extrude a little from the sides of the housing, this is normal.

  • Prep for Driving in the Cutter Plug

Ensure the battery is fully charged!
If your drill has adjustable settings, set the drill to low gear and at maximum clutch (drill symbol).
Attach the long-socket with the red reference line.

Note: the circlip on the spindle and the poly-tube underneath it.
The poly-tube is essential to ensure the long-socket does not depress the spindle during installation; else the seal can be damaged. Do not remove the poly-tube prior to Operation 8.

  • Drive in the Cutter Plug

Plastic pipe: It is recommended to use a wrench on the housing to counter the rotational
forces in order to eliminate the small risk of flex in the pipe damaging an existing joint.

Place the long-socket over the spindle and locate on the hexagonal portion of the cutter-plug,
making sure not to compress or dislodge the poly-tube.
Using the drill at a low speed (60rpm), rotate clockwise the cutter plug until the red line on the
long-socket aligns with the top of the collar. Once rotating do not unscrew as this would prevent
the product from working. Stop rotation when the cutter plug cannot be easily rotated any further.

Note: As the pipe is cut, the pipe-slug is compressed, and the installer will feel the resistance
increase and decrease.

  • Removing the Collar


Unscrew by hand (counter-clockwise) the collar from the top-housing, and discard.

If the collar will not unscrew, the plug is probably not all the way in – recheck the red reference line is lined up with the collar. If not, screw in further; else back-off the long-socket up to 5° max, then the collar will unscrew.

Note: If you find more torque is required than your drill can provide than you will need to use either a ratchet or a wrench to drive in the long-socket.

  • Check and align the Cutter Plug with the Housing

Check that the top of the cutter plug thread and the housing flange are flush.

Align the red dot on the cutter plug with the red dot on the housing flange.
(Operation 9 cannot be completed without the correct alignment).

Note: We recommend you align the red dots using a wrench in a clockwise
direction so that the cutter plug is fully home. If you cannot align clockwise
because it is too tight, then align in the anti-clockwise direction.
Do not unscrew more than the half turn.

  • Remove the Split Poly-tube

  • Fit the White Plastic Cap

Remove the M8 half nut from the spindle. Fit the white plastic cap over the spindle, and push down the spindle: you may need to hold down the spindle against the water pressure in the pipe, this is normal.

Align the scallops underneath the white plastic cap with the bolt heads. Using a Phillips screwdriver, screw in the 4 pan-head screws to attach the cap. Tighten carefully in order not to strip the thread, diagonally in sequence until the cap is flush with the housing.

  • Fitting Handle

Push the handle over the spindle thread, either way round according to operator’s preference, and replace the M8 half nut.

  • Test Isolation

The handle will move 90˚ and will stop when the Aladdin EasyFit Isolator is fully closed.

The Aladdin EasyFit Isolator requires a Phillips screwdriver with an Aladdin EasyFit Isolator Tool Kit* and an electric drill or ratchet to fit.

1. DO use the Aladdin EasyFit Isolator Tool Kit* to fit the Aladdin EasyFit Isolator.

2. DO NOT fit to 15mm steel or any pipe that is not 15mm. This product is only for 15mm copper pipe (Hard or Half Hard, 0.7mm or 1mm walls) or plastic pipe (PEX and Polybutylene).

3. DO NOT attempt to fit on a kinked or bent pipe or on a pipe with solder or paint runs.

4. DO NOT use an SDS or percussion drill to fit.

5. DO NOT rotate the housing after Operation 2.

6. DO ensure that the housing halves are bolted completely flush on both sides, as per Operation 3.

7. DO NOT rotate the cutter plug prior to Operation 5.

8. DO NOT remove the Poly-tube prior to Operation 8.

Note: This version is not for gas-pipe.

9. DO NOT use an EasyFit Isolator more than once.


Is there a 22mm version of the Aladdin EasyFit Isolator?

Not at present, currently the Aladdin EasyFit Isolator is only avaliable in 15mm.  A 22mm version is in development and will be available for sale in late 2018.

What sizes will the Aladdin EasyFit Isolator fit ?

The Aladdin EasyFit Isolator fits between 14.7mm to 15.1mm,
 so this will fit standard 15mm with 0.7 and 1.0mm wall tube,
 the old UK 1/2″ imperial pipe (15.08mm od) and the Irish 1/2″ imperial pipe (14.7mm od).

The American ½” imperial pipe which is 15.875mm (5/8″) outside diameter will not fit the 15mm Aladdin EasyFit Isolator version.
The housing will not clamp around the pipe. We have now developed a version of the Easyfit for this market, and can commence production subject to commitment to distribute from interested parties.


What happens to the pipe when installing the Aladdin EasyFit Isolator?

The Aladdin EasyFit Isolator cutter plug has a blade attached to the base which slices through the pipe. The blade has no teeth, instead it is scalloped in order to avoid swarf. The copper or plastic pipe slug is simply compressed into a sealed void at the bottom of the housing.

Can I use the Aladdin EasyFit Isolator more than once?

No, the Aladdin EasyFit Isolator is only designed to be installed once. Firstly, how would you remove the valve unless you are able to isolate up stream? Secondly, the fine threads that allow the cutter to advance through the pipe are designed to go through the heavy cutting process once only.

Is the Aladdin EasyFIt Isolator a bi-directional Valve?

Yes, the aladdin EasyFit Isolator is a bi-directional valve and can be fitted any way round onto the pipe.

Can you change the Aladdin EasyFit Isolator valve for maintenance, for example if the valve has seized?

A big advantage with the Aladdin EasyFit Isolator (over a conventional stopcock) is that the core (brass plug, spindle and seal) is replaceable. We are developing a core replacement tool which will allow it to be replaced in the future. Replacement cores will be inexpensive and their installation will take minutes.

Electrical cross-bonding

My pipe work has an earth connection will the Aladdin EasyFit Isolator affect it?

If the pipe work is electrically cross-bonded you should not need to move the earth connection as there is electrical continuity through the Aladdin EasyFit Isolator.
If the pipe is painted the paint work should be removed prior instillation as this will affect conductivity. If in doubt, electrically bridge across the valve.

Useful test for successful isolation

There is a test you can perform to check that the valve seal has installed correctly, this is step takes place before fitting the cap:

Rotate the spindle so that its flats are perpendicular to the pipe. Maintain this angle and push the spindle in slowly until the circlip contacts the top of the brass plug, then hold for a few seconds.
If when letting go of the spindle it stays in position then the valve has correctly installed. (This is a useful test before cutting the pipe down stream).

(Alternatively if the spindle pushes out quickly or does not push in all the way then call the support line for trouble shooting)
